English born 1946, Visual artist, studied in Hammersmith College of Art (1964-1965), St. Martin's School of Art (1966-1968) and The Royal College of Art (1969). Since 1969 he has been developing his artistic practice which centres on the act of walking. He has done several walks around the world in numerous countries including England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, USA, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Tibet, Japan, Australia, Nepal and India.
He has had major solo shows in various contemporary art museums and galleries namely the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham and Turner Contemporary in Margate, UK (2012), Keep Moving, at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bolzano, Italy (2005), a retrospective at Tate Britain, United Kingdom (2002), in the Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama, Japan (1996) and the Center for Contemporary Art, Geneva, Switzerland (1995).
Fulton has over forty publications regarding the artistic experience of his walks and several authors have written extensively about his work. Recent titles include: Walking in relation to everything, 2012, KORA, Tibetan Kora –Circumambulation of a Sacred Place, 2008; Geronimo Homeland, 2007; Keep moving, 2005, Seven Short Walks – Siete Cainatas Cortas, 2005 and Walking Journey, 2002.
